What is a 45-degree TFP polarizer?
Thin Film Plate (TFP) polarizer is a glass plate coated with polarizing beamsplitter coating. It separates incoming unpolarized light into its components. p-pol. is transmitted along the same direction as incoming beam, but s-pol is reflected perpendicular to incoming beam (90 deg).
How 45-degree TFP polarizers are made?
45-degree thin film plate polarizers' production procedure follows same steps as any other dielectric coated optical component. Substrates are prepared, polished, and inspected. Polarizing coating is designed with desired extinction ratio, wavelength and optimized for 45-degree incidence angle. Backside anti-reflective coating is optionally applied as well. After the coating TFP polarizers are inspected and stocked or shipped to customers.
